my lil' quicktime movie, for yer veiwing pleasure

a little teeny tiny movie that i made today. It's from work. I just can't seem to concentrate on working, instead i'm always trying to make people laugh, and taking photos and doodling pictures and acting a fool. And somehow through all of this, i've made it into management. Go figure.

is this thing on?

I wonder if anyone is reading this besides sara? hm. (hi sara)

Today I was supposed to be at work, but my mother-in-law, who was watching Riley, had some sort of freak floor-mopping accident where she split her kneecap in half (ouch). So I had to go get Riley and take the day off. Freak floor-mopping accidents suck.

I love the damn internet. In particular, I'm referring to epitonic.com, insound.com, and myspace. I have found SO MANY fan-fucking-tastic bands this past week with those three websites. And then when I find bands I like, I check out label's sites as well, to find out about other bands and take advantage of the free mp3s. I'm in love with the idea of being able to hear people i would NEVER have found out about without free mp3s. Stuff I'll never hear on the radio or television, never find in the mall... And if ever manage to make some decent music with garageband, I'll put my own mp3s up! woohoo.

Here are some bands/artists I've recently discovered that I really dig:
Logan Whitehurst. (drummer for The Velvet Teen, another great band). Little Cat. Home-cooked electronic tunes recorded without computers, instead recorded with a vcr...Le Chevre. Oh very nice stuff. I found this one by accident.

I'll continue to post links to good music as I find it, in case anyone out there is interested. Thank God for free mp3s and broadband!

new blog for my art

look at my little link nav on the left eh? I made a blog to post my art. In time I'll make a new website, but for now, I'll use the new blog to post photos of the stuff I make. Please do have a look :)

the coolest crafty thing ever

poking around on craftster.org, I found this gem. and it's made by a cute BOY of all things! Men should take notice; the way to a woman's heart is through craftiness.

a good day

oh damn, my eyes are struggling to stay focused...i'm so tired! Today I was invited to show my art with 7 other amazing art making ladies. The show will be at Low Gallery in San Francisco, a gallery that is owned by John Trippe (head honcho behind Fecalface.com) I was asked to be a part of the show by the lovely Lisa Romero. Check out her art at www.paperbullet.com or her blog on www.fecalface.com

So yeah, I'm really excited about that. I've only shown my art locally, so it's really cool to have the opportunity to get a bigger audience. And the company in which my art will be shown....well, I'm just really flattered to be included. I've been a fan of many of these girls' works for a long time. I'll have to tell Keturah and Matt to go check it out, since I obviously won't be able to be there myself. They can represent for me :) And if I can find my sweet sweet joel, he can go as well! That is, if he still uses the same email address he had before I lost my internet access. I had a dream about him the other night. I miss him.

Tomorrow (or today actually...I guess it's after midnight) I'm off work and will have the house to myself. I intend to do lots of music-making. I ordered my imic today, so hopefully it will arrive the beginning of next week. I'm looking forward to it oh-so much. And I can use it in my tentative band with the ever-charming, always super swell Sara Hebert (a shout to my peep!), and my other talked-about-soon-to-be-real project with my friends/coworkers Mallori Brandon and Tina Balint, another extra rad couple of girls who I'm fortunate to know. (of course, the idea of all three of us being off work on the same day is pretty insane, and will probably never happen....)

Ok. I'm off to sleep now. g'night.

so slow to catch on

it always takes me forever to figure out what is good. I hear friends talk of bands they like, and i pay no attention for like, a year. Then suddenly I hear it by accident and realize how fucking great it is. Case in point, TV on the Radio. Well shit, this a a great fuckin' band. Now THAT is the kind of music I wish I could make.

just testing

i just downloaded this blogger widget, I'm just seeing how it works :)

she's baaaaack...

well it looks like I'm back online. This time with cable, which i intend to take full advantage of. I stayed up into the wee hours last night downloading free drum loops for garageband. They sound way better that what is included with garageband, the real deal, big fat REAL drums. I'll order an imic tomorrow so i can record my own guitar and bass, and maybe a midi controller to do my own drums and synths. I've been really influenced by The Faint a lot lately. I'm thinking of screwing around with that kind of sound. But who knows what I'll end up doing, really.
I wish I didn't have to leave for work in half an hour. I want to play with my new toy. I have to get in touch with all of my friends to let them know I'm back online, so we can get back into that email groove...
